Musa Akilah (born April 11) popularly known by his stage name Morell , is a Nigerian rapper and songwriter.

Morell was born in Bauchi State, but hails from Borno State, Nigeria. Musa Akilah is known for his smooth voice, calm composure and boy next door charm.


While growing up amongst six other siblings, Morell enjoyed listening to rap songs and miming on stage and is inspired by BIG, Jayz, Mark Morison, Eminem, Mali Music and Akon.

Morell’s singing ability was first discovered by Blast, a friend who had criticized his rapping skills the first day they met. Morell was first officially introduced to music lovers in 2007 following collaboration on Rugged Man’s album “Move Something”.

A few months later, he partnered on Naeto C’s Bamilo, another song that penciled him down as an act to watch out for. Intensifying his music career, Morell and Bento Recordz put pen to paper in 2011.


Morell mainly rap’s in Hausa, (a language mainly for people living in Northern Nigeria).

Ten newborn babies died on Saturday in a fire at a state-run hospital in western India, officials said. There were 17 infants in the unit for sick newborn babies when the fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at the Bhandara District General Hospital in Maharashtra state. Seven infants died due to smoke suffocation, and three from burn injuries, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope told reporters. Seven babies were rescued by the nurses and ward staff. All the infants were aged between a few days and three months, Bhandara district health official Prashant Uike said. The government has ordered a probe into the incident and a safety audit of all neo-natal care units in the state. Initial reports indicated that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in one of the incubators, Tope said. “The staff said the ward quickly filled with lots of black smoke,” the minister added.
